The St. Louis Area

Hello, and welcome to our St. Louis Infor/MAPICS User Group. My name is Claude Stoltz and I’m the newly elected President of our Users Group. Yes, Infor/MAPICS is still alive and is in St. Louis. For those of you who do not know me, I am a Project Manager for Barry-Wehmiller and have been working with MAPICS for more than 15 years. I am honored to be you newly elected President and continue the tradition we have started three years ago. I’ve been interested in participating in a MAPICS Users Group for some time now and we finally started one with Les Silies as our first President and I plan on carrying the torch forward. This is awesome! I feel a lot of us as Infor/MAPICS customers will benefit from these gatherings and will be able to benefit from sharing our experiences. Over the past three years we have had an enormous amount of excellent presenters from either Infor/Mapics or TriMin. Anytime you can get a group together and share experiences and ideas, then someone might learn something new. I know I usually do. Please keep attending and let us know any future ideas we can add to our group and expand its base. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.
Claude Stoltz
First let me thank everyone who put his or her confidence in me at the March 2003 meeting. It is a real pleasure to be part of this group. Several of you already know me after all I have been around MAPICS for 20+ years. Over the 20+ years I have watched MAPICS grow. The first 10 years were easy. There was MAPICS-I and later there was MAPICS-II. In the next decade the pace picked up. We had MAPICS/DB then MAPICS/XA. Speaking of XA, we have had 7 releases of XA. We’ve seen green screen, client applications, Internet, XML, Java and J2EE. Then again there are many third party applications that supplement MAPICS. It can make your head spin. No longer is it easy for me to stay current with the evolution of MAPICS. I must confess that after 20+ years I have a lot to learn about MAPICS. Now more than ever I feel the need for a MAPICS user group!
Now that we have a need for a MAPICS user’s group we should give it a direction. As a fledgling group I would to keep our group simple, flexible and responsive to the needs of the MAPICS users in our area. I want to encourage members to engage, communicate and share their MAPICS experience with others. With this in mind we have initially decided we will meet quarterly. Our meetings will start at noon with lunch, followed by a guest speaker and hopefully wrap up with casual informal discussions amongst the various members. Please join us at our next meeting.
